  • Marlboro loses 2 to 1 in New York State softball final

    The Marlboro High School softball team came so close to winning the New York Class B title, losing 2 to 1, to Windsor, which won the title in 2010 and 2011, and losing last year to the champion, Chatham of Columbia County.

  • Lady Vikings’ reign ends at hands of PB

    Valley Central’s hopes to four-peat as Section 9, Class AA softball champions met a shattering end Thursday, May 30 in Maybrook when Pine Bush’s Alyssa Hasbrouck blasted a three-run homer off Cindy Connoly in the top of the seventh to beat the Lady Vikings 4-1.

  • Goldbacks eliminated in quarterfinals

    Newburgh Free Academy’s baseball team started the season slow and then won seven in a row down the stretch to earn a Section 9, AA quarterfinal fifth-seed berth against Valley Central, the fourth seed.

  • Lady Dukes win Section 9 title

    The Marlboro softball team leading Highland, 3 – 2, in the Section Nine class B championship game, scored six runs Saturday in the fourth inning of a championship contest played in 90-degree heat at Rhinebeck High School to win the Duke’s first section softball title in years, 10 – 2.

  • PB’s Przybocki wins pentathlon

    Pine Bush’s Meredith Przybocki won the girls pentathlon during the Section 9, Class A track championships Wednesday, May 22, in Middletown.

  • Saleen Matta second in long jump

    Newburgh’s Saleen Matta was second in the long jump during the Section 9, Class A outdoor track championships in Middletown Wednesday, May 22, when she covered 17-feet, three inches. But it still short of the personal record, 19-feet, 11 inches, she set in the event earlier this year.

  • Highland’s Chardon third in pentathlon

    Highland’s Leslie Chardon, a senior, was getting ready for the first event, the girls pentathlon 100 hurdles, during the Section 9, Class B track championships in Kingston Thursday, May 23.

  • Lady Vikings tune up for Section IX play

    Valley Central’s Cindy Connoly was vying for her third no-hitter this season Friday, May 17, but Newburgh’s Kristen Steele drilled a two-out single through middle of the infield in the bottom of the seventh to spoil a perfect game.
